About the Quaker Parrot
The Quaker Parrot — more formally the Monk Parakeet — is a small, bright green parrot native to temperate South America, known for exceptional talking ability and a distinctive habit unlike almost any other parrot species: building large, communal stick nests rather than nesting in tree cavities. That same adaptability has made the species both a popular talking pet and, in a handful of US states, a legally restricted or banned one, over concerns about wild populations establishing themselves outside their native range.
