About the Indian Ringneck Parakeet
The Indian Ringneck Parakeet is a mid-sized parrot native to the Indian subcontinent and parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, named for the thin ring of color that develops around a mature male's neck. Known as one of the best-talking parakeet species, the Ringneck pairs real vocal ability with a genuinely demanding temperament — this is widely considered an intermediate-to-advanced bird, not a good first-parrot choice, and it goes through a well-documented adolescent "bluffing phase" that catches many new owners off guard.
