About the Cardigan Welsh Corgi
The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is the older of the two corgi breeds, with a history in Wales stretching back more than a thousand years as a herding and farm dog. Cardigans and Pembroke Welsh Corgis were treated as a single breed until they were officially separated in 1934, and the clearest way to tell them apart today is the tail — Cardigans keep their long, bushy, fox-like tail, while Pembrokes are typically short-tailed or tailless.
